Site Civil Engineer – Villa Construction
Location: Ajman, UAE
Salary: AED 2,500 – 3000 per month, depending on experience and ability
Benefits: Company visa, accommodation and medical insurance
Employment: Full-time, site-based
About the Position
We are looking for a hard-working, experienced and hands-on Civil Site Engineer to join our construction team in Ajman.
The ideal candidate must have practical UAE experience in villa construction, preferably G+1 villas and/or G+M+2 residential buildings, and must be capable of independently managing day-to-day site activities.
This is a hands-on site position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being on site, supervising labour and subcontractors, checking quality and making sure work is completed correctly before moving to the next stage.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage daily site activities and coordinate labour and subcontractors.
* Be on site before labour starts and remain until the day’s work is properly completed.
* Keep subcontractors and workers under control and ensure productivity.
* Check work against approved drawings and specifications.
* Closely supervise RCC, steel fixing and shuttering/formwork.
* Check reinforcement before concrete: bar size, spacing, laps, cover, openings and levels.
* Check shuttering for dimensions, alignment, levels, plumbness, supports and cleanliness.
* Supervise concrete works, blockwork, plastering, waterproofing and finishing works.
* Check blockwork for line, level, plumb, openings, thickness and proper bonding.
* Check plastering for thickness, levels, corners, surface preparation and finishing.
* Check tile works for levels, slopes, alignment, joints, wastage and workmanship.
* Ensure defective or poor-quality work is corrected immediately.
* Coordinate material deliveries and ensure materials are available before work starts.
* Measure completed works and monitor quantities used on site.
* Coordinate with the Project Manager and report site problems immediately.
* Maintain proper site discipline and ensure subcontractors follow the construction sequence.
* Monitor progress and make sure work is completed according to the project schedule.
* Assist with snagging, rectification and final handover.
Quantity & Technical Knowledge
The candidate must have a practical understanding of construction quantities and be able to calculate basic quantities for:
* Concrete
* Reinforcement steel
* Blockwork
* Plaster
* Tiles
* Screed
* Excavation/backfilling
* Basic formwork/shuttering
The engineer should be able to take measurements from drawings and/or the actual site and identify whether material consumption is reasonable.
Required Experience
* Civil Engineering degree or relevant engineering qualification.
* Minimum 2–3 years UAE construction experience preferred.
* Experience with Ajman villa construction is highly preferred.
* Experience with G+1 villas and/or G+M+2 buildings.
* Strong practical knowledge of structural and finishing works.
* Able to read architectural and structural drawings.
* Able to communicate effectively with labourers and subcontractors.
* Must be hardworking, responsible and able to work under pressure.
* Must be willing to take ownership of the site rather than simply supervise from an office.
* UAE driving licence is an advantage.
The Right Candidate
We are looking for someone who is practical, disciplined and quality-focused.
The successful candidate should be the type of engineer who will notice when a column is not properly aligned, shuttering is not plumb, steel spacing is incorrect, blockwork is poor or plaster/tile work is below standard—and will make sure it is corrected before the work continues.
Candidates with only office/design experience or without practical UAE site experience will not be considered.
