A Design Fire Fighting & Fire Alarm Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and developing fire protection and fire alarm systems for buildings and projects in accordance with local authority regulations, international codes, and project requirements. Their role includes preparing fire fighting and fire alarm layouts, hydraulic calculations, material submittals, technical drawings, and coordinating with consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure safe and compliant fire protection systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing fire fighting systems such as sprinkler systems, hydrants, hose reels, fire pumps, clean agent systems, and foam systems.
Designing fire alarm systems including smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual call points, sounders, emergency lighting, and central battery systems (CBS).
Preparing shop drawings, technical submittals, voltage drop calculations, cause & effect matrix, and hydraulic calculations.
Coordinating with MEP teams, consultants, contractors, and civil defense authorities.
Ensuring compliance with NFPA standards, local fire codes, and authority requirements.
Reviewing project specifications, BOQs, and IFC drawings.
Supporting site teams during installation, testing, commissioning, and inspections.
Attending technical meetings and resolving design and coordination issues.
A Fire Fighting & Fire Alarm Design Engineer should have strong knowledge of fire protection and fire alarm systems, AutoCAD/Revit, hydraulic calculation software, and international fire safety standards.
